The parent of Medea was Aeetes. Medea (Ancient Greek: Μήδεια, Mēdeia) is an ancient Greek tragedy written by Euripides, based upon the myth of Jason and Medea and first produced in 431 BC. The plot centers on the actions of Medea, a former princess of the " kingdom of Colchis , and the wife of Jason; she finds her position in the Greek world threatened as Jason leaves her for a Greek princess of Corinth . From her mythological beginnings as Jason’s right-hand-woman to her titular role at the centre of Euripides’ famous drama, Medea remains one of Greek mythology’s most infamous and intriguing figures. After supporting Jason through his conquests with the Argonauts (and saving his life on multiple occasions!) Medea is usually portrayed on Greek vases as an eastern-looking woman wearing a Phrygian cap, such as on an Attic amphora from Ruva (late fifth century BCE) and on an Apulian vase at Munich.
